Milwaukee jazz ensemble to compete in NYC

The Batterman Ensemble of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music's Jazz Institute has been selected as a finalist to compete in the Charles Mingus High School Jazz Competition in New York City. A concert will be held to help raise funds for the trip.

When Zach Frame was 5 years old, his parents took him to Organ Piper Music Palace, 4353 S. 108th St. It was the first time Frame saw a live organist and he was instantly drawn to the instrument. Today, he serves as the restaurant's only full-time featured organist.
