"Spencers: Theatre of Illusion" levitates the stereotypical magic show

Kevin Spencer is well aware of the backlash that can happen from calling oneself a magician or an illusionist. Spencer - along with his wife, Linda - brings "Spencers: Theatre of Illusion" to the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The show is a mix of theater, rock concert and magic.

The star-studded cast of "Now You See Me" almost manages to sell the film's absurdity, but director Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk," the "Clash of the Titans" remake) and his trio of writers are never willing to leave stupid enough alone. It's a dim bulb slight of hand that'll likely leave viewers feeling slighted.


Balloon Man creates twisted art

Peter John Lindsay goes far beyond swords and poodles with his balloon designs. He has made full-sized motorcycles, a car that a 10-year-old fit into and spot-on cartoon characters. Recently, he recreated a famous painting with 8,460 balloons.
