When I saw that local, family-friendly band The Chicakdees were playing again this year at Summerfest, my family and I -- which includes my 6-year-old sons -- decided to make a pilgrimage to check out the band at Summerfest's Children's Theater & Playzone.

Americana singer-songwriter Mary Karlzen struck a balance between music and motherhood by forming her family-friendly band The Chickadees. On Saturday, March 7 the group performs a free show at the Central Library at 10 a.m. in conjunction with "Dr. Seuss Day."
