Recently, OnMilwaukee.com's Molly Snyder spent the morning shadowing Chef Karen Bell at Bavette La Boucherie, a butcher shop / cafe at 330 E. Menomonee St. She was surprised - and a little disappointed - by the lack of blood, guts and gore.

Why don't you cook more fish at home? It's Good Friday, so let's talk fish. Milwaukee's relationship with fish and, of course the fish fry, is unique and wonderful. I'm guessing here, but I bet we consume more fish than the average American.

Millioke Restaurant - associated with the new Marriott Hotel - will open this summer at 323 E. Wisconsin Ave. The restaurant's tagline is "Meat. Cheese. Beer." and will feature "great Midwestern cuisine."

Giovanni's Italian Deli and Bugby's Back Alley Saloon will open in late March in the former Centanni, 218 N. Water St. Bavette Butcher Shop is also on the way in the Third Ward.
