There are many morals taught and learned over the course of "Into the Woods." Look at the world through others' eyes. Let your children into the world. Stop giving Johnny Depp roles involving goofy hats. However, the ultimate overarching lesson is be careful what you wish for, one that was all too prescient for fans of the beloved musical concerned about Disney's big screen adaptation. For fans, however, this story ends with a "happily ever after."

About 20 years later, Jeff Bridges has finally gotten "The Giver" to the big screen, and for a project with clearly some passion behind it, the final result is bafflingly inert, as though the film itself has been sampling the characters' daily emotional sedation.

Movies love the "ride off into the sunset"-style ending. Few, however, get into what happens on the other side of that horizon, and even fewer tackle how the two fare once twilight sets in. "Hope Springs," on the other hand, devotes a whole movie to it.
