Jimmy Nelson got his first extended look with the Milwaukee Brewers as a starting pitcher in 2014, and had his share of ups and downs. The 25-year-old right-hander is looking to build off that and compete for a permanent spot in the rotation in 2015.

I'm passionate, especially when I perceive unfairness. I might get a bit outspoken at times, but that's only because I feel I am fighting a just cause. So I get where former Brewers and current Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee was coming from Thursday night.

The benches cleared after an odd two-batter sequence when Milwaukee Brewers starter Mike Fiers hit Miami Marlins MVP-candidate Giancarlo Stanton in the face and pinch hitter Reed Johnson on back-to-back pitches -- which resulted in an inning-ending strikeout. Carlos Gomez was later hit, and the Brewers won two in a row for the first time since the end of August.
