The "Giant Slugger" is a two-foot hot dog that weighs two pounds, nine ounces. It's made of Klement's meat, an amazingly dense pretzel bun from Miller Bakery, plus chili, cheese, caramelized onions and optional jalapeƱos. Today, our team at OnMilwaukee.com just about finished two.

When Motor restaurant opened at the Harley-Davidson Museum a couple years ago, it had quality, but wasn't quite custom-built for speed. That changed when the restaurant souped things up with high-octane chef Travis Taylor, who was hired away from his job as a chef for NASCAR at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.

Last month I wrote about a great pretzel I had at Cafe Centraal. Brian Miller -- of Miller Bakery -- saw that and brought over a box of pretzels for us to try. What he brought over were pretzel-shaped revelations and the oohs and aahs from the bedazzled OnMilwaukee.com staffers said it all.

Step inside Jake's Deli and you might as well be entering a time machine. The clientele is different than it was 50 years go. But the booths are the same, and more importantly, so is the corned beef. And that's exactly how the owners like it.
