Are Brat House wings "totally awesome"?

Last week, I wrote about Club Garibaldi's dry, spicy wings on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the invention of the buffalo wing. That led friend Colin Deval to ask if I'd ever tried his current favorites, which are plated up at the Milwaukee Brat House on Old World 3rd Street. I hadn't tried 'em, so we met for lunch there this week.


Best non-Irish pub, 2014

This was a close battle. The top three vote-getters in "best non-Irish pub" were neck and neck and neck, but Cafe Benelux narrowly came out on top. This is the first win for the unique restaurant and bar at 346 N. Broadway.

NBA lockout hurting businesses around the Bradley Center

The NBA was to have opened its 2011-12 season this week, but the ongoing lockout wiped those games - in fact, all November games - from the schedule. League commissioner David Stern has ruled out a full, 82-game season and even an abbreviated campaign seems unlikely as the two sides remain stuck. For those who own bars and restaurants near the Bradley Center, the loss of games means a lot of lost revenue.

Once again, readers picked the Old German Beer Hall as their favorite Downtown bar. Restaurateur Hans Weissgerber III, of the Weissgerber Group, opened the Bavarian bar and eatery at the end of 2005.
