But downstairs in the historic buildings occupied by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, when cracks appear it's no put-on. The Rep will spend nearly $2 million this year to repair deteriorated support pilings under the building. Let's go down and take a look....

As I gear up to go spelunking in the historic home of the Milwaukee Rep, which occupies a complex of former utility buildings, the Rep announced that it has received a one-time half-million-dollar grant from the The Herzfeld Foundation to fund immediate repairs caused by significant settling that has occurred over recent years.

There are a lot of different things you can expect when you go to the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, but you would never expect this. A ballet. Right on the stage of the Quadracci Powerhouse. And with "Noises Off," a farce written by Michael Frayn and directed by KJ Sanchez, the Rep has staged a show that has everything that a great ballet has, except the music.

It may come as a surprise to people who have seen "A Raisin in the Sun" before, as I have, and it certainly came as a huge surprise to me. But when I watched the play that opened at the Milwaukee Rep this weekend, I was stunned to figure out that it's a love story.
