It might have taken a long time for Mellencamp and King to put the haunted musical "Ghost Brothers of Darkland County" together, but for the audience at the Riverside Theater on Tuesday night, their diligence was appreciated.

It's currently a fun time for actor Nate Lewellyn, and it's not simply because he's starring in "Forever Plaid," a gleeful revue of those classic catchy '50s guy group barbershop tunes opening this weekend at the Milwaukee Rep. No, there's another, more sentimental reason for Lewellyn to be happy: He's back home again.

While there is an adaptation currently set for next year (Clint Eastwood is directing because ... sure, why not; it's gotta be better than "J. Edgar"), for the time being, "Jersey Boys" is stuck on the stage. But if the performance Thursday night at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts was any sign, it's doing just wonderfully staying on the stage.

Mark Clements allows the music to flow and to carry us back in time to a place we've only heard about. And the exuberance of this cast of wonderful singers and dancers gives us a show worth the time travel backwards.
