Observations from the political winds
It's been a somewhat lackluster spring election in the City of Milwaukee -- except maybe for an open aldermanic seat on the East Side and the Ald. Michael McGee vote -- as incumbents are facing relatively weak opponents who got late starts. But there have been some interesting developments.

City reaches accord on Kilbourn Tower settlement
A settlement that forces developers to pay $950,000 for a patch of land near Kilbourn Tower appears nearly complete. In return, the city will give back some $100,000 in performance bonds the tower took out on the project.

Ald. Michael D’Amato will not run for a fourth term to represent Milwaukee’s Third District on the Common Council, a source close to the alderman said today.
