Milwaukee is alive with history, and its many landmarks are woven seamlessly into the urban fabric. A great way to learn about the past is by exploring these places right under our noses where our forebears lived, worked and played. Many historic buildings have been re-purposed and now house office space or are private homes. Here are just a few places within the city limits where the past meets the present.

The North Point Lighthouse in Lake Park is an East Side landmark and before the light was extinguished, the rotating beacon was as much a part of the neighborhood evening as the lakefront foghorn. This weekend, the renovated lighthouse and keeper's station host a pair of events.

Although its beam was once seen 23 miles out into Lake Michigan, the North Point Lighthouse has become something of a secret enveloped amid the trees of Lake Park.
