David Mamet won a Pulitzer Prize for his searing story about men and their lust, their savagery to each other and the personal wilderness they often find themselves stuck in. The play has been done often at all levels since its Broadway debut in 1984, and the version that opened at Off The Wall Theatre Thursday night is a production that matches the explosive power of the script.

One of the easy lessons to learn in life is that when you walk out onto the ledge make sure that there is something down below in case you fall. Being out on the ledge is nothing new for Dale Gutzman and his tiny Off The Wall Theatre and he has never been afraid to walk out there without something to fall off. Gutzman is out on the ledge again with the opening of "Grey Gardens," a quirky musical based on an almost 30-year-old documentary film.

To say this play is disturbing and powerful is like saying Ryan Braun can hit a baseball. Nothing quite captures the depth and breadth of this story. And though the cast consists of a dozen or more actors, make no mistake: it is a one-man show.
