Wrestling comedy "Cementville" trips on weak characters in the ring

If you are going perform a play about women's professional wrestling, it's a good idea to determine whether the characters are going to be real people or caricatures. That's one of the problems afflicting "Cementville," the dark comedy by Jane Martin that opened at UWM's Peck School of the Arts over the weekend.


Calling all acoustic guitar fans

Acoustic guitar royalty will be in town next week. California-based Alex de Grassi will be in residence at the UWM Peck School of the Arts, which has one of the top finger-style guitar programs in the country.

Stepping through winter at the Peck School of the Arts

There is nothing about winter that makes me want to dance, but "Winterdances" at UWM this week is something else. The dance department at the Peck School of the Arts annually presents "Winterdances" -- and "Summerdances" in June -- with faculty and guest artist choreography. This winter's lineup includes works by two of the great choreographers of modern dance, Mark Morris and the late Alwin Nikolais.
