Task force shouldn't forget smaller performing arts venues in tax hike

After two years of study, the task force - convened by the MMAC - has issued its report with glossy pictures and a message that called for an increase of one-half cent in the sales tax. But missing from the report is what is perhaps one of the most active cultural attractions in Milwaukee: the performing arts.


UPAF distributes $8 million

Milwaukee Ballet teams with MYSO and First Stage for "Peter and the Wolf"

A collaborative production of "Peter and the Wolf" will premier on Sept. 7 for a run of four school performances and 12 public performances at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W. Walnut St. The production features Milwaukee Ballet artistic director Michael Pink's original choreography as well as the musical conducting of MYSO's Carter Simmons and the direction of John Maclay of First Stage.
