Back in December, I wrote a blog post called "Bold and not-so-bold predictions for 2012." Almost halfway through the year, I see now that one has come true, two have not, and two are yet to be decided (but I still stand by my predictions).

Writing year-end "best of" lists is easy, and writing 2012 New Year's resolutions is even easier. After all, it's not very challenging to opine about what we would like to see. It's much trickier to predict the future.

On my old radio show, we used to make predictions one the day before the regular season started. With the Packers getting set to kick off their Super Bowl title defense tomorrow, I thought I would revisit the tradition by making my fearless NFL predictions here at OnMilwaukee.com. Following Super Bowl XLVI in early February, I'll bring this column back and we'll see just how wrong I was.

The 2010-11 National Basketball Association season is underway and Dave Begel is hoping to see a few things before the Larry O'Brien Trophy is hoisted next June.

Dave Begel did it earlier this week. Today, my favorite national sports guy, Bill Simmons, has done it too. Simmons, in a 5,000-word column on ESPN.com, picks the Green Bay Packers to win the Super Bowl.
