A plan emerged last year to bring new life to the Prospect Mall on the East Side. Developer Robert Joseph is tearing the building - erected in 1912 as a Pierce-Arrow automobile dealership - down to the bones to create first floor retail and parking, with a four-story residential tower perched diagonally on the roof. We got a peek inside yesterday.

Leasing has begun for a six-story project at Prospect Mall that includes 80 market rate apartments as well as 13,560 square feet of retail space.

I walk past the Prospect Mall nearly every day. And when I do, I can't help but regret that such a high-profile corner of the East Side is sitting vacant. Put on your thinking caps Milwaukee and tell me your great ideas for the Prospect Mall.

As much as we love Milwaukee, it's true, there are a few less than stunning sights. After careful consideration, we've compiled a list of places, ideas and events (in no particular order) that certainly create a "Milwaukee style" but perhaps could use slight improvement.
