What a new pope means for non-Catholics

We don't really understand the spectacle of the white smoke at the Sistine Chapel or the conclave called to pick a new pope. We don't really appreciate the history or the grandeur or the intense spiritual implications that surround picking this one particular man to become one of the most powerful religious leaders in modern society.

Whereas "Inherit the Wind" delivered its debate with heft and unbridled passion, "How the World Began" takes a much quieter approach to the discussion, focusing on just three normal people who become embroiled in both sides of the issue. It's "science versus religion" portrayed in a quieter way than you might expect, but no less fierce.

Event at Marquette seeks commonality in faiths

Mark Ehlers wears his faith prominently on his cycling jersey, yet he didn't strike a Tebow-esque pose at the end of his record-setting ride across Wisconsin.He was too exhausted, physically and emotionally. The 54-year-old from Milwaukee collapsed to the ground in Marinette, after completing a 298-mile journey guided by his desire to make a mark as an ultra-marathon cyclist and his commitment to Christianity.

There's nothing like using a social platform that allows you to create an account and hide behind a veil of secrecy - if you so choose - to discuss topics that, if brought up in everyday conversation, could ignite a spirited debate amongst friends or colleagues, or some intense fisticuffs. I've seen both.
