But academic sanctions took away any chance at postseason basketball, so the team enters the season with a chip on the shoulder and a goal of winning the regular season Horizon League title.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball program, fresh off one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in the NCAA last year that culminated in a NCAA tournament berth and Horizon League Tournament championship, has been banned from any postseason play following the 2014-15 regular season.

You know how they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Well, this old dog has just learned a new trick, thanks to a letter from a friend that was the proverbial slap upside my head. I cry "uncle." Dropping sports would be next to impossible. So, what I'm going to do is try to stimulate the kind of things that will make the basketball program a force to be reckoned with.
