Madison resident Steve Stricker, a 12-time winner on the PGA Tour who is now in semi-retirement, was named as a vice captain for Tom Watson's United States Ryder Cup team. He joins fellow Madison resident Andy North alongside Watson.

At the start of 2013, Madison resident Steve Stricker said he'd be cutting back on his schedule to spend more time in Wisconsin with his family. As a result, the 46-year-old has turned in a great season.

The two golf courses that put Wisconsin on the national golfing radar - Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits - are celebrating anniversaries this year. Blackwolf Run, site of the 1998 and 2012 U.S. Women's Open turns 25. Whistling Straits, site of the 2004, 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships and 2020 Ryder Cup, along with the 2007 U.S. Senior Open, turns 15. It's been an amazing ride (so far) for Kohler.

United States Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson has named Andy North to serve as a vice captain for the 2014 United States Ryder Cup Team. North was announced on July 3.

Madison's Steve Stricker announced at the start of this golf season that he's going into sort of a semi-retirement at the age of 46. He cited his family, and a body that is breaking down after a lifetime of golf. It's an understandable move, but the game of golf is worse off for it.
