On a recent Friday night, we took in "Richard III" at the American Players Theatre, just outside Spring Green. But the actual viewing of the performance is only a portion of an APT experience. Many theater goers show up an hour or two early to enjoy a meal and glass of wine in the midst of nature.

This is such a great deal, I had to reread the press release twice to believe my eyes. Marquette University is celebrating William Shakespeare's birthday week on Wednesday by presenting American Players Theatre actor and writer James DeVita in his autobiographical one-man show "In Acting Shakespeare," and the performance is free.

That inspired the new production of Shakespeare's classic "Othello" the Rep opens Friday night on its Quadracci Powerhouse Theater stage.
