Milwaukee's best Middle Eastern, 2009: Casablanca
What began as a family-owned restaurant on Mitchell Street evolved into a Brady Street emporium of Middle Eastern delights. Following in their parents' footsteps, brothers Alaa and Nasser Musa opened the second generation of Casablanca, serving traditional kabobs, falafel, stuffed grape leaves and shawarma.

Cartlidge & Browne pinot uncorks bold comfort
My wine pick this week is a big, bold pinot noir which we enjoyed on one of the chillier days last week. I'm ready for fall reds, which is when I usually pour myself pinot noirs and shirazes and the occasional malbec. Pinot noir to me screams bold comfort, and the 2007 Cartlidge & Browne Pinot Noir is no exception.

Tiny bubbles: Cuvee is cool
Milwaukee might be the last big city in America to get its first champagne bar, but even if the trend is no longer all that trendy, the new Cuvee is still pretty cool.
