Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd close out Big Gig '09
The final day of Summerfest goes out with a little country-rock bang, as Lynyrd Skynyrd opens a July 5 Marcus Amphitheater show for Kid Rock, who performs Milwaukee as part of his "Rock and Rebels Tour." The show starts at 7 p.m.

The 105th anniversary of Harley, the Brewers' trip to the playoffs, the Summer Olympics and the election of our first black president all made 2008 one of the most incredible years in recent memory. But it wasn't all events. There were plenty of albums, shows and books that made their mark in my 2008.

The Roots plant firmly onto the Summerfest grounds
Since their first album nearly ten years ago, The Roots have stood by two things. First, they prioritize a continual artistic evolution and advancement. Secondly, their music represents an ideological dialogue on issues of politics, economic inequalities and civil rights. With this in mind, when The Roots took the stage tonight at the Miller Oasis, they proceeded to represent themselves perfectly.
