So, we contacted some of Milwaukee's most passionate and engaged oenophiles - including Toni Johnson, who recently left Milwaukee to take an executive wine director position at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Napa - to get their take on the state of wine in Brewtown.

Local wine guru and advanced sommelier Toni Johnson begins her latest round of wine classes this week at the Capital Grille, 310 W. Wisconsin Ave., where she is currently sommelier. The first event, Saturday, July 23 at 3:30 p.m., is an intro the restaurant's Generous Pour Wine Event, led by Johnson.

Every day, it seems that Brew City folks pop more and more corks. And Milwaukee's growing passion for wine owes a lot to some passionate folks who work hard to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the grape and its bounty. Two of those people are Toni Johnson and Nate Norfolk, who have started Professional Wine Consultants.
