Advertising strategies that go in one ear and out the other
I'm probably more impressed than the average Joe when I see or hear good ads, and I'm especially puzzled when I see companies blowing their money on bad ads. For every excellent ad in Milwaukee, there must be 10 terrible ones.

Last week, I sat quietly as most of my co-workers talked about what appear to be everyone's favorite TV shows. Today, when I told Tim Cuprisin that I don't have cable, he said, "I'm sorry." But, you know what, I'm not sorry.

Milwaukee's Palermo's Pizza makes its national television debut on the Food Network's "Unwrapped" show. The episode, titled "The Big Chill," airs at 8 p.m. on Sept. 14 and gives audiences a peek inside Palermo Villa, the company's facility in the Menomonee Valley.

You wouldn't be far off the mark to title my first blog at OnMilwaukee.com "How I Spent My Summer Vacation." In the couple weeks since leaving my old gig at the Journal Sentinel, I've been doing a lot of the things you'd expect somebody with unexpected free time on their hands.
