I'm using my own book as an example in this posting, but so you don't think it's merely for shameless self-promotion, I won't use the title. But, seeing copies of the book for sale online has me wondering how this online used bookselling game works.

Downtown Books, 624 N. Broadway, opened a second location at 1134 S. 1st St. in Walker's Point. Owner Keith Pajot opened his first shop in 1991 at 142 W. Wisconsin Ave. in the space that is now Mo's Irish Pub.

Bay View Books and Music, 2653 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., is Bill Frickensmith's latest -- and by all accounts last -- book and record store. It is going strong in the old Mirth Theater building.

The Book Cafe, located just off the Carroll University campus in Waukesha, is part coffee shop, part used book store and prime community space. Owner Abigail Olson likes it that way. The cafe will celebrate its three-year anniversary Saturday, Oct. 1.

You're not going to get rich reselling your books, but you might get a little fun money for the weekend or, at the very least, be able to trade your old books for "new" ones.
