UWM brings Africa's past into Milwaukee's present
This weekend, Community Media Project welcomes three distinguished African-American filmmakers for a weekend of screenings, installations and discussions. The event, entitled "Africa Beyond," highlights the works of renowned directors Charles Burnett, Kevin Everson and UWM's own Iverson White.

Shiny prints offer new look at Godard classics
Serious film buffs need no introduction to the great works of French director Jean-Luc Godard. Two of those works -- 1962's "Vivre sa vie" and "Contempt," from 1963 -- screen at UWM's Union Theatre, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 26-28. But since they will be shown in sparkling new 35mm prints, they're worth rediscovering even if you think you've already seen them.

UWM film documents small-town, Jewish Wisconsin
Curious about what it is like to be Jewish in small-town Wisconsin, the students and faculty of the Peck School of the Arts film department's docUWM made a documentary film on the subject. "Chosen Towns" screens free at a number of locations in the coming weeks.
