For this, Chef Justin Johnson's third and final stop in the James Beard edition of The Engine Room series, he found himself far outside the posh and pricey metro Milwaukee Downtown at Meritage on Vliet Street, a mere bean bag toss from Wauwatosa.

When Milwaukee author Lesley Kagen set out to write her debut novel, "Whistling in the Dark," she never anticipated returning to the 1950s Vliet Street neighborhood of her main characters, Sally and Troo O'Malley. Still, fans wanted more from Milwaukee. What resulted was "Good Graces," which returns to the lives and adventures of the O'Malley sisters just one year after the events of "Whistling in the Dark."

According to an employee, Broadway Bakery and Cafe will move in "two or three weeks" to a new location, 5901 W. Vliet St. This space was the former home of Suzy's Cream Cheesecakes.

The Caradaro Club, 1417 S. 70th St., in West Allis, will open a second restaurant in the space at 5010 W. Vliet St. You know it; it's the one with the big coffee cup -- dating back to when the place was a coffee shop -- on top. Caradaro's Wally Kutch is looking for a good home for that giant cup, which he'll replace with a slice of pizza.
