I recently read Michelle Alexander's book, "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness." It takes head-on the "elephant in the room" concerning race in America. I feel it is a must read for anyone interested in equality and social justice.

In support of the release of their new album, "Slave Ambient," The War On Drugs is taking to to the road. Included on that tour is a stop at Club Garibaldi in Milwaukee on Aug. 27.

Milwaukee Police Chief Nan Hegerty continues the tradition of using federal money coming from drug bust seizures to fund pet projects for the department. The money comes from assets seized from drug dealers and is mandated to go for efforts to reduce drug use.
