Brewers hire Randolph to be their bench coach
When he wasn't hired to manage the Brewers last month, Willie Randolph figured his chances of returning to Milwaukee were shot. But, he works in baseball, an industry where you never say "never." In an announcement that came as a surprise to almost everyone, including the former Mets manager himself, the Brewers tabbed Randolph to be the bench coach for manager Ken Macha.

Brewers select Macha as new manager

Help wanted: Experienced big-league manager
Doug Melvin likes Dale Sveum. So did owner Mark Attanasio and the players. Despite a 7-5 finish and the franchise's first playoff berth since 1982, Melvin opted not to bring Sveum back as skipper in 2009 and is instead hoping to lure a manager with successful big-league experience.

Brenly seems to fit the bill as Brewers' next manager
Based on the apparent criteria, the Brewers can halt their search for a new skipper right now. Cubs TV announcer Bob Brenly has it all: experience, a track record of post-season success, media savvy ... Still, it's not a slam-dunk. One of the only certainties in baseball is that the moves that seem logical, easy and obvious seldom work out that way.

Randolph firing shouldn't give fans the Willies
Firing someone is never easy. It smarts. It stings. It's the ultimate rejection. "We no longer want you." There is no massaging that hard truth and nothing could have softened the blow.
