Best venue for food, 2009: Milwaukee Public Market
By best venue for food, we mean places you visit to do something besides eat -- such as sightsee, shop, watch sports. Most folks knew what we were talking about, and the winning choice was clear. The Public Market, which allows guests to shop and dine, collected nearly a third of the vote to wrestle the title away from runner-up (and editors' pick), the Wisconsin State Fair and No. 3 Summerfest.

Milwaukee Talks: Cheryl O'Brien, Alice in Dairyland
Cheryl O'Brien isn't a Milwaukee native, but she calls the Brew City her "second home." O'Brien, 23, has spent the last several years here as a student studying Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and working as an assignment editor at WISN-TV (Channel 12). She left that gig a few months back when she was named the 62nd Alice in Dairyland - Wisconsin's Agricultural Ambassador. She took some time during the State Fair to chat with OnMilwaukee.com about the state's $60 billion ag industry.

Locally, you'll find drinks, cocktails and beers screaming "Wisconsin" each time a bartender goes to make the pour. You might not find them all at the Fair, but you'll find a decent mixture and if you're really looking for one of these local cocktails, just step just down the street or into a neighbor's house where prideful locals will happily educate you on Wisconsin favorites.
