Residents Vote Chain Restaurant "Most Wanted"

MILWAUKEE -- The cheese heads of Milwaukee are calling for even more cheese! Not curds or colby, but a Cheesecake Factory restaurant for the city. With more and more upscale national restaurant chains joining Milwaukee's already wonderful offering of independent, local restaurants, OnMilwaukee.com thought it was time to ask residents which chain they would like to see come to town.

Visitors to OnMilwaukee.com were asked "Which restaurant chain would you like to see in Milwaukee?" 885 people voted on the poll. The poll was posted on the site from Aug. 2-Aug. 9, 2001.

The complete results follow:

Cheesecake Factory, 24 percent

Krispy Kreme, 21 percent

California Pizza Kitchen, 13 percent

Rainforest Café, 13 percent

Ramano's Macaroni Grill, 7 percent

Souper! Salad!, 7 percent

Chipotle Grill, 6 percent

I don't eat at chains., 9 percent

The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. operates 44 upscale, casual dining restaurants under The Cheesecake Factory® name in several cities including Chicago (3), Atlanta (2), Baltimore, Boston (2), Boulder, Columbus, Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Phoenix (2), Providence and Seattle.

"Milwaukeeans know cheese, and it seems like many in the city have seen the distinctive architecture and stylish décor of the Chicago-land Cheesecake Factories. Sounds like city residents are crying out for more cheese," said Jeff Sherman, OnMilwaukee.com's VP of Marketing. Sherman also stated that the poll was strictly for fun and the results entirely unscientific.
