MILWAUKEE – OnMilwaukee.com, Milwaukee's daily magazine and city guide, announced today that it set a new site traffic record during the month of October. Traffic rose to 386,937 unique visitors, according to Google Analytics. This figure is up nearly 53 percent from October of 2010, when the site received 253,068 unique readers.

The traffic record also was an increase from September, when the site was seen by 262,639 unique visitors.

OnMilwaukee.com Publisher and Co-founder Andy Tarnoff said the record traffic resulted from the company's annual Dining Month in October, as well as increased interest in the Brewers and Packers.

"Typically, we see our best traffic in the middle of the summer during Summerfest," said Tarnoff. "But the Brewers' playoff run and our fifth annual Dining Month allowed us to showcase our unique and award-winning content to even more readers."

Other traffic highlights:

  • OnMilwaukee.com saw more national visitors during the Brewers playoff run, with 39 percent of visits coming from outside Wisconsin in October (compared to 29 percent of out-of-state visitors in September).
  • Year-to-date, OnMilwaukee.com has now been viewed by 2.4 million unique visitors, up 14 percent from 2.1 million last year at this time. During that period, total visits have also risen by 8.4 percent.
  • During this time, traffic to the OnMilwaukee.com homepage actually decreased 18 percent, as readers' browsing habits continue to change. With OnMilwaukee.com's nearly 40,000 aggregate Twitter followers, innovative use of Facebook and other social networks, every other main section of the site, including articles, has seen dramatic traffic increases, including a 51 percent rise in blogs, Talkbacks and customizable content.
