News Release
OnMilwaukee.com continues to innovate with community building, new technologies and more unique content; April ad revenue up 69 percent
MILWAUKEE -- They didn't call it "Web 2.0" when OnMilwaukee.com launched in September of 1998. But the independent, privately owned daily online magazine -- among the only of its kind in the country -- has been practicing the principles that define new media for nearly nine years.
"The Talkback has replaced the letter to the editor. It's instant reaction to stories, guides and events. For almost nine years, we've offered the ability for our passionate readers to react and respond. We've always followed standards of decency, fairness and accountability and our Talkbacks are continuing to help fuel our amazing growth," said OnMilwaukee.com publisher and co-founder Andy Tarnoff.
The magazine also is readying a re-launched version of its online magazine for later this month -- one that will further emphasize emerging online trends, including better use of multimedia, creative advertising spaces and cutting-edge technologies like AJAX, RSS and CSS.
The company has found that embracing these technologies is also paying off on the revenue side. With increased regional and national media buys and a strong foothold in greater Milwaukee, revenue is up each month in 2007 -- and the year is trending to be OnMilwaukee.com's most profitable year to date.
"It's all coming together as our team has increased advertising revenue nearly 44 percent in the first four months of 2007. We're always improving our offerings, content, service and knowledge base, and with the re-design, new partnerships, new promotions and, of course, the great Milwaukee summer right around the corner, we're looking forward to our best year ever," said OnMilwaukee.com president Jeff Sherman. Sherman also noted that April 2007 ad revenue was up 69 percent over April 2006.
"You can't go wrong with changing faster, and what's next for OnMilwaukee.com involves a continuation of our commitment to innovation, creativity, community and constant change," added Sherman.
OnMilwaukee.com is Milwaukee's only daily magazine and city guide, and one of the only independent online magazines in the country. Daily stories, exclusive content, interviews and buzz make OnMilwaukee.com part of the daily routine. OnMilwaukee.com is a hyper-local oasis featuring Milwaukee's only Weekend Preview, award-winning reporters, classifieds, movie tickets, RSS feeds, personalization, an event calendar and more.
