The Milwaukee Bucks will visit Siefert Elementary School, 1547 N. 14th St., on Friday, May 13, for a special read-a-thon from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The event celebrates the culmination of a year-long initiative between the Bucks and Siefert Elementary in promotion of both literacy and healthy living. Bucks front office employees will read to groups of K-5th grade students while Bango and Bucks Dancers provide entertainment for the celebration.

The Bucks have established a lasting relationship with Siefert Elementary this year, with the year-end read-a-thon marking the team’s fifth appearance at the school since the start of the 2015-16 season last fall.

Bucks legend Sidney Moncrief visited the school on Jan. 29 to promote health and wellness to students and faculty as part of NBA Fit Week, and he also made a follow-up visit to engage with the Siefert community on March 23. The Bucks took part in an All-Male Read In at the school on Oct. 16, and made an additional stop there on March 2 for National Read Across America Day.

Through Friday morning’s read-a-thon, the Bucks organization looks to continue its commitment to improving youth education and mobilizing employees to make a positive impact on the community. The event will help reinforce the importance of continued reading throughout the summer months.
