Six bands move closer to Big Gig
The first round of finals for the Break into the Big Gig battle of the bands contest are slated for this weekend at The Up and Under and BBC.
The Friday Up and Under battle starts at 9:30 p.m. and features Up North, The Jake Paul Band and Cadence Finale.
There will be drinks specials, Summerfest ticket giveaways and free Great Lakes Dragaway tickets, too.
On Saturday, the BBC hosts Karma 13, Halfway Jane and Behemoth and Leviathan at 9:30. Look for similar ticket giveaways and drinks specials and 102.1's Jon Adler will host the event from 10 until midnight.
"The bands have been very good, the voting has been really close," says organizer Roy Henning. "I think the average margin of victory has been less than 10 votes for each night."
Check out my earlier blog entry to learn more about the background of the event.

i guess this is one way to get a gig at summerfest. the other would be to start a band, practice every other day, write good songs, play out as often as possible, build a following, record a good demo, and earn your gig. i guess winning a contest is good too...
