The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is coordinating a national BBQ donation effort to cook and distribute more than 250,000 meals throughout America over the next year.

The HOG and STEER BBQ Competition and Festival at Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc will participate in the Meals Mission by collecting food contributions for the hungry. Each competing team will be preparing one additional pork butt on Saturday, June 18 during the event which will be collected by Just One More Ministry in conjunction with Feeding America to provide a meal to those in need.

The general public is invited to attend The HOG and STEER BBQ Competition and Festival on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wisconsin Harley-Davidson and bring non-perishable food items to donate to the 250KCBS Meals Mission. The HOG and STEER BBQ Competition and Festival will be working with Feeding America to distribute the food to those in need.

Admission to the event is free, special VIP Pig Passes are available for purchase including BBQ pork sampling, sides, beverage and People’s Choice vote are $20 with proceeds benefiting Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. The event includes a beer tent, additional food for sale and live entertainment by Lukyn Skywyrd.

With over 20,000 members and more than 475 sanctioned BBQ events in its network, KCBS is the largest organization of BBQ enthusiasts in the world. By using its volunteers, judges, cook teams and event organizers, the nonprofit society will be providing fully cooked, world-class pork butts and other nonperishable food items to food banks and other charitable entities coast to coast, border to border.

This year so far, KCBS will have donated more than 6,000 pork butts – the equivalent of 50,000 pounds of cooked pork or 250,000 meals to this effort. In addition to cooking the provided pork butts at participating events, all teams, judges and BBQ enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this mission by bringing non-perishable items to KCBS sanctioned events.
