Summerfest announces Toby Keith date
Toby Keith was the first Amp act announced for Summerfest 2007 and now, four years later, Keith is the first to be announced for the Big Gig 2011.
Keith plays Friday, July 1 at 8 p.m. Eric Church opens the show.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Jan. 29 at noon and include admission to Summerfest. You can buy them at the Marcus Amphitheater box office and via Ticketmaster. Prices have not yet been released.
Note that due to the ongoing construction on the south end of the Summerfest grounds, the Marcus box office has been temporarily moved to the Mid-Gate, where Chicago Avenue runs into Harbor Drive. The building on the north side of that area serves as the Amp box office for now.
Keith has sold more than 33 million records, including his latest studio set, "Bullets in the Gun," the title track of which is currently scaling the singles charts.
Country rocker Church has notched six country music chart hits from the two CDs he's issued since he appeared on the scene in 2006 with "Sinners Like Me."
