Three finalists named to Land the Big Gig

Land the Big Gig has named three finalists who will perform on the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Stage at Summerfest for a chance to win a share of up to $100,000 in cash and prizes.

Milwaukee native Danny Gokey returns to the stage to host the third annual music competition, Thursday, June 26.

The three finalists include:

  • Marie Wise-Hawkins, a country music artist from southern California
  • Doozy, a four-man band nominated for Wisconsin Area Music Industry Pop/Rock and Album of the Year
  • Eagle Trace, an alt-rock band comprised of brothers Max, Jackson, Mitch and Cass Borgardt and Borderick Coning

Joining Gokey at the judges' table are Naima Adedapo, who finished in the top 11 of competitors in season 10 of "American Idol;" Summerfest vice president of entertainment Bob Babisch and Dave Williams, the president and founder of Willems Marketing of Appleton.

The three finalists were determined by an online vote.

The acts will compete for a grand prize of $20,000, a first prize of $5,000 and a second prize of $2,500.

All three finalists will win recording time plus songwriting and mentoring resources from KNE Studios, the opportunity to be featured on a KNE New Music Stage Compilation CD and the opportunity to each perform a 30-minute set at a Land the Big Gig encore showcase on the KNE New Music Stage on Friday, June 27.
