The world's most efficient fest visit
Yesterday was a busy day around the house. But we wanted to make sure we didn't miss our annual visit to the Grecian Festival at Sts. Connie and Helen Church in Wauwatosa. What resulted was perhaps the most efficient visit to a festival ever.
Loukoumades have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, when we'd make annual visits to the Greek church festival around the corner from my house. When we moved to the West Side nearly a decade ago, we started our own tradition of noshing on them at Sts. Connie and Helen's annual fest. Before that, we'd only had them once in a while at the Annunciation festival.
Now, my kid loves them, too, and it was time to create a new fan of these sweet, sinful treats, too.
But, like you maybe, we had a lot to do around the house this weekend, and it looked like we might not get our loukoumades this year. That was unacceptable.
So, we packed up a bag, hit the car and headed over to Tosa, where we parked a short block from the festival, which was not crowded in the pleasant mid-afternoon.
Sometimes, the temps are brutal at this fest, sometimes it's chilly. This time it was perfect. We strolled up to the loukoumades booth, bought two orders and sat down and devoured the deep fried dough balls slathered in sweet honey.
All the while we enjoyed the Greek music and the homey block party-esque vibe.
Hands de-sticky-fied, we hit the bouncy obstacle course ($1) and the bouncy house ($1) for some kid fun.
And off we went back to the car to run some necessary errands before dinner.

Yes Bobby its was a great day to visit this annual treat of Delishious Greek treats and mellow atmosphere. We had a bit of every dish and it was ALL good. The Smells in the neighborhood was intoxicating and there wasnt any drunkards and overly load music to deal with. Great day indeed. OPA!
