Owl City added to Summerfest line-up
On the heels of Owl City's platinum-selling debut, "Ocean Eyes," the band has announced a new record, "All Things Bright And Beautiful," and a U.S. tour that includes a stop at Summerfest on Thursday, June 30.
The full-length record -- produced by Owl City's Adam Young and recorded at Sky Harbor Studios in Owatonna, Minn. -- is due out on May 17 on Universal Republic.
Details on the Summerfest gig, as-yet unannounced by the festival, are slim. No start time or stage has been released. There is no Marcus show yet announced for June 30, so it's possible the band will headline the Big Gig.
The question is whether or not Owl City could be expected to fill a venue the size of the amphitheater. But with a platinum LP that spawned a quadruple platinum single -- "Fireflies," which twice topped Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart -- it seems possible.
However, most of the venues on the tour are considerably smaller, like the 8,000-seat MacKay Event Center in Salt Lake City and the 3,200-capacity Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Those suggest that Owl City would more likely headline one of Summerfest's stages other than the Marcus.
According to the band's Web site, a ticket pre-sale starts on March 22 and public on-sale begins April 1. Those dates would only potentially apply to the Milwaukee show if it's at the Marcus.
The band's tour kicks off June 13 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and currently ends with a date at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul on July 30.

I liked Owl City better when they were called Postal Service.
