The City of Festivals is expanding its offerings this summer.
Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks will headline a free street festival July 4 in Bay View, officials announced today. The festival, co-sponsored by the Pabst Theater and Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, will officially be called "Red, White and Blue Ribbon," but folks already seem to be referring to it as "PBR Fest."
The event, which begins at 1 p.m., will be held outside Burnhearts Bar near the intersection of Kinnickinnic and Potter Avenues. More bands will be announced later, but the beverage lineup will feature $2 PBRs.

Old school street festival. Free entry. $2.00 PBRs. And the genius behind one of the most influential, groundbreaking, constantly ripped-off bands (looking at you Weezer/Blur/Modest Mouse) of the independent music age? Summerfest ought to be ashamed of itself... It just got blown out of the water.
