Think your coffee drink has what it takes to win the Red Cup Showdown?

Calling all coffee concoctions for the Red Cup Showdown

Seattle's Best Coffee is on the lookout for the next great coffee drink, and it's bringing the Red Cup Showdown to the Wisconsin State Fair to find it.

Wisconsin coffee lovers will have a chance to submit their original coffee creation during a live competition Sunday, Aug. 5 on the State Fair, um, grounds.

One winner will be selected to move on to New York City, where he or she will compete against finalists from four other state fairs and one Facebook finalist for a $10,000 grand prize and the chance to have their coffee drink featured at Seattle's Best Coffee locations nationwide. Each finalist will also win $500 and free coffee for a year.

Fairgoers and spectators will also be able to try free Seattle's Best iced coffee drinks at the showdown, spin the prize wheel and take home a free sample of Levels ground coffee to brew at home.

As part of "The Avant Garde Coffee House Project" exhibit currently on view, there`s a glass-topped case with some posters and a record. It`s a pretty nondescript thing, frankly, with a black and white photo and some not especially artful text. But that little record - "Blues, Rags and Hollers," by folk blues trio Koerner, Ray & Glover - made a big bang when it was released in June 1963. And it was made in Milwaukee.
