Rock the Green this fall
OK, so we haven't had a chance to experience much of a spring yet, not to mention summer, but we're asking you to look ahead – just for a minute or two – to September when the Midwest's near-zero waste music festival will take place.
Rock the Green is set for Sunday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Veterans Park on the shores of Lake Michigan.
There will be five "national music acts" and many food options including local and organic eats. A portion of Rock the Green's profits will benefit the Urban Ecology Center and the Greater Johnsons Park Initiative.
So what makes Rock the Green so green? The festival will be powered on clean energy (i.e. solar and biodiesel), all disposable items will be compostable, an on-site green team will work at waste recovery stations throughout the festival grounds and a free bike valet service will be available for attendees in order to encourage biking.
Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee.com for more information about the bands coming to Rock the Green. For now, just mark your calendar and carry on complaining about the current chilly weather conditions. I know I'm going to.

Kudos to Lindsey who has been working on this for years! I hope to see this become a year-over-year success on Milwaukee's lakefront!
