Highland Games/Scottish Fest: June 4
The Milwaukee area is blessed with two Highland Games events – this one-day affair at the start of the festival season and another in Waukesha toward the end of the summer.
This is the seventh year in a row that the event is at Hart Park after having been held for years at Glendale's Old Heidelberg Park.
Being that it's in early June, Scottish Fest can go one of two ways. A blazing sun can make you feel like it's late July in Milwaukee, while cold and rain conjures Glasgow in March. We've experienced both, and either way – it takes place rain or shine – this event is a blast.
There's great beer and food, herding dogs exhibitions, traditional dancing, pipers, vendors selling music, clothing and more. It's a family fest, perhaps more so than many others, and a fun way to get into the festival spirit.
This is a great festival that goes until 10 p.m., and the ceildh starts at 6 p.m.
