A video on Summerfest.com today shares the news that Summerfest will give away 100,000 free tickets to this year's event.

However, there is no specific information about how or when free tickets can be obtained.

"Stay connected with Summerfest, its sponsors and marketing partners to find out how you can win yours in the weeks to come," says the video's narrator, who also promises an announcement of the opening day headliner will come next week.

Summerfest has been counting down to what it called a "major announcement" all week, in anticipation of today's video launch.

The announcement did name some opening day performers, including Hall and Oates, Matisyahu, Saving Abel, Jack's Mannequin, Buddy Guy and Max Weinberg.

This has been a year of changes at the Big Gig, with news that the festival would be closed on July 4 and with the announcement of a half marathon and 10k run on Sunday, July 10.

Summerfest 2011 runs June 29-July 3, July 5-10.
