Social Circle: Your favorite Summerfest food?
The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.
Some say Summerfest the focus is the music. Other says it's the beer. But for many Milwaukeeans, Summerfest is all about the food.
This week, OnMilwaukee.com asked the Social Circle members for the food item they are most looking forward to eating at the Big Gig. Below is a sampling of responses; for the entire thread, go here.
Our favorite response this week was "That deep fried thing." Ain't it the truth?
Erica Davis: "Eggplant strips at the Venice Club, hands down!"
Sandi Draeger: "Mader's reuben rolls."
Susan Frank: "Saz's sour cream and chive fries."
Daniel Hinz: "That deep fried thing."
Mike Hogan: "You can't go to Summerfest and eat just one thing. But I usually start with a Saz's combo. I always visit Martino's. Aunt Anne's pretzels are good walking-around food."
Betsy Holmes: "I was there yesterday and give big thumbs up to soba noodles hut. It was new to me and really good. We followed up with eggplant strips, of course."
Jose Ignacio: "Mille's Italian sausage with sharp peppers."
Michelle Krawcyzk: "Saz's mozzarella sticks, hands down! Every year. Have such good red sauce."
Ryan Laessig: "Sil's donuts!"
Adam Levin: "Martino's hot dog with a Lakefront beer."
Anne Maedke: "Corn."
Lisa Marchese: "Pizza cones!"
Jenny Olin-Fox: "Mini brat corn dogs from Saz's."
Elysabeth Reichman: "I really am looking forward to the eggplant strips, but I definitely want to try something new."
Richard Schwalb: "King & I Thai combo."
Greg Sobanski: "I always think I'm gonna find this awesome dish I've never seen before but just end up eating at Mader's."
Stephanie Wiedenhoeft: "Sprecher Abbey Triple."
Patty Zastrow-Jankowksi: "My friend just got me a-hankering for the eggplant with her photos, so now I just have to have me some. Before that it was the gourmet cheesecake. Yes, I will probably have both."
