Finally, a Milwaukee ferris wheel
Summerfest officials today announced new daytime enhancements and the return of favorites from 2013.
The newest attraction is Summerfest's Wheel in the Sky. "The wheel in the sky keeps on turnin'," on the north end of the grounds. Patrons can ride this giant ferris wheel and enjoy spectacular views of Summerfest, Downtown Milwaukee and Lake Michigan. Rides will run from noon to 11:30 p.m. daily for $5 per person.
Returning in 2014 after a successful first year, Summerfest will present Paddleboats sponsored by Badger Meter. This family friendly activity is provided by Lakeshore Paddle Sports that gives patrons the opportunity to relax and take in views of the festival and downtown Milwaukee. From noon to 7 p.m. each day, paddle around part of the lagoon for 30 minutes in boats that hold up to four people.
Friday, June 27 will be KAPCO "Go Red" Day the Wisconsin Badgers and the BIG 920 from noon to 3 p.m. All patrons wearing a red shirt will receive one free admission ticket. Stop by the Mid Gate Promotions Booth to receive your ticket.
After its debut in 2013, the #SFLIVE Lounge presented by Bridgestone is back. Located along the lake walk just north of the Arts and Crafts Tent, the #SFLive Lounge will showcase live artist interviews, short acoustic sets and more.
Every day the Kohl's Captivation Station will offer education and music experiences for children and families from noon to 7 p.m. Come see Radio Disney Road Crew, Comedy Sportz, Mad Science, the Figureheads and more. Additionally, the Zoological Society of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World and Penfield Children's Center will be on-hand to provide fun activities.
School of Rock will host a "Battle of the Bands" competition for hundreds of its best students from across the world. Come watch these incredible young musicians duke it out as they perform on Saturday, June 28. The top bands will then battle in the finals on Sunday, June 29.
The Summerfest Parade will bring additional entertainment to the grounds during the festival on June 25-27, July 1 and July 2 at 3 p.m. Incorporating a second line style, the parade will start at the south end of Henry Maier Festival Park at the Marcus Amphitheater Forecourt and complete a full lap of the grounds. Fans are encouraged to join in the fun with participants as they make their way around.
The Verlo Mattress Skyglider, which provides scenic views of Henry Maier Festival Park, Lake Michigan and all of the entertainment below also, of course, is back. One-way and round-trip fares are available.
Summerfest 2014 takes place June 25-29 and July 1-6 from noon until midnight and will be closed Monday, June 30.
