New Alterra Featured Farm Series boxes make unique gifts

We're all looking for creative Christmas and holiday gift ideas. And if you're like me, you like your gift to say a bit of a hello from "Milwaukee," too.

So, the new (and very limited) Holiday Edition Featured Farm Series boxes from Alterra Coffee Roasters are perfect.

They're out this weekend at Alterra cafes, and if you are lucky enough to get one of these you'll be one of only 300. Trust me, once you have one it may be hard to decide if you should gift or keep it.

These things are super cool. It starts with a hand made wooden box that's crafted in Denwark, Wis. Inside are four rare coffees each in Biotre kraft coffee bags (60 percent made from recycled pulp) that feature hand silkscreened covers.

A small, Roaster's Notes booklet tells the story of each coffee and puts personality into each blend. Each small batch is different, of course, and my first taste was of the Sualawsi/Toarco Toraja blend. Heavier in profile, it was rich and full of flavor even for a lighter roast.

At $44.95 these boxes make a great gift that's already "wrapped" and ready. And, since each box is hand numbered and the print is hand screened you really get a custom touch that's hard to find these days.

Kudos, Alterra.
