Blu Bar & Lounge invites you to watch July 3 fireworks

Blu Bar and Lounge, located on the 23rd floor of the historic Pfister Hotel on Wisconsin Avenue, is offering four luxury packages for the night of Tuesday, July 3, when the U.S. Bank Fireworks show will light up Milwaukee's night sky.

The Red, White, Blue and Diamond Packages – priced from $150 to $600 – include front-row window seats for two people, a bottle of premium wine or champagne and a tower of appetizers.

There also will be live entertainment by The Jenny Theil Group.

Steinbach's back

It`s been a long time since we`ve heard from Zach Steinbach. Nearly five years ago Steinbach fronted The Color Truth, a Milwaukee band that seemed poised to take the next step with its big, melodic, poppy rock and roll. The band fizzled out a couple years back, leaving Steinbach a bit lost. But now, he`s back. He`s got a band, and he`s got a new solo record. More, than anything, he says, he`s got a new lease on a musical life.

Filippo`s Italian Restaurant, 6915 W. Lincoln Ave., is one of the many pizzerias on Lincoln Avenue that I`ve alluded to in past blogs. Several people have been asking when I was going to visit Filippo`s, so I stopped in on a slow night to try the sausage, mushroom and onion on thin crust and a sausage and pepperoni on the regular hand-tossed pizza.
